Siddharth Ghosh was born in 1967, near Darjeeling and graduated with a Bachelors in Painting and Masters in Print Making from M S University, Baroda.
Ghosh’s paintings are always filled with joy and beauty and captures the true manifestation of self-awakening. He has been inspired by the beauty in his surroundings, nature or emotions of life. Ghosh does not pre-plan a work but rather lets his subconscious work as he applies colour, letting his inner guide place a figure, a bird, a human figure or an object.
He has received many scholarships and grants including the Lalit Kala Akademi Research Grant in the field of Print Making, Artists Grant from Department of Culture, Government of West Bengal and Junior Fellowship for Outstanding Artists in the field of plastic arts by Department of Culture, Government of India. Others include the Charles Wallace (India) Trust Award to visit Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Arts, University of Oxford, UK as Artist in Residence and a senior Fellowship for outstanding Artist in the field of plastic arts by the Department of Culture, Government of India.
He has also won many awards including the National Award, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Award in Print Today, All India Graphics Exhibition Organised by Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi and Award in IIIrd International Print Biennale, Bharat Bhavan, and Bhopal. His works are in many collections in India and abroad. He lives and works in Kolkata.
