The philosopher and theologian Madhvacharya was the leader of the Dvaita (dualism) school of Vedanta. He was a critic of Adi Shankara’s Advaita Vedanta and Ramanuja’s Vishishtadvaita Vedanta teachings. He thinks that there is a fundamental difference between Atman (individual soul) and the Brahman (universal reality).
