Mir Miran was the eldest son of Mir Zafar, the first Nawab of Bengal under the British East India Company. On July 2, 1757 Sirajud-Daulah was betrayed, captured and executed under the orders of Mir Miran, after which Mir Jafar became the Nawab and the British began to wield real power. This was huge a turning point in the history of India. Exactly three years later Miran was struck dead by lightning as he lay in his tent.
