He moved to Aden after his education in 1846 and successfully setup
one of the greatest business houses of the East. He benefited the city
with importing the first private water condenser and ice machine.
Since his contributions were varied and cosmopolitan in nature, he
was awarded the honour of Companionship of the Indian Empire.
